I've got something in return! Why study a University Degree?

This morning, I wanted to explain the importance of studying a University Degree just to make sense of the trajectory of all these students who graduate each year, especially the students of La Salle Business Administration who graduated last year , of which attached the video of the Graduation 2009-10.

I have attended the inauguration of the Ramon Llull University Academic Year 2010-11. The inaugural lecture was given by Dr. Pedro Echenique professor of condensed matter physics from the University of the Basque Country.

Born in Isaba in June 1950, Etxenike graduated in Physical Sciences from the University of Navarra, and received a PhD from the University of Cambridge, a Doctorate in Physical Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and an ScD from Cambridge. He currently teaches at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), where he is Full Professor of Condensed-matter Physics.

I was really lucky to be there, one of the best speeches I've ever heard. Dr. Pedro Echenique underlined during his talk the importance to get knowledge and today I would like to share with you his reasons which I strongly agree:

- "Learning is not filling a vacuum. Learning implies to create from what exists a critical vision and make it your own.

- "Knowledge in general and in particular scientific and technological knowledge will be a factor in the economic and social development."

To me, knowledge gives you the freedom to tackle issues arising in the personal and professional field. It also allows you to be more confident and to suggest new procedures while exploring new fields, new ideas. Knowledge is a source of creativity, and even allows us to make mistakes and understand them.
