NMUN

Every year, a group of students from La Salle goes to New York City to participate in a conference called the National Model United Nations, or NMUN. The conference is organized by the United Nations Department of Public Information, and is held in several places, world wide, every year. During the conference each university or organization represents a country that they have studied in detail in advance. During the conference, the students have to negotiate and act as if they were representing that country in a real United Nation conference. By participating, the students get hands-on experience, and get to deal with real world problems along with other students from all around the world.

Last academic year, the group from La Salle represented The Federated States of Micronesia.

Carlos Dominguez, Brian McGarry (professor), Sergi Gilabert, Alejandro Orillo, Dani Villagol, Marie Coulibaly, Anne Lorck, Ivan Curti, Georgia Stewart, Marc Badesa and Hala Cherradi in the UN headquarter during the closing ceremony of the conference in April 2014

In April 2015, a group of 8 students are going to represent Monaco. The students will be presented in a later post.  As one of the many pre-conference preparation activities the group has to carry out fundraising. The group has decided to follow up the successful Thanksgiving dinner that has been arranged in previous years, and it will take place Thursday the 27th of November in the Cafeteria. The tickets can be bought for 15  on Friday the 21st and Monday the 24th and for 17 € on Tuesday the 25th. They will be sold outside Olga's office in the MF building during the breaks between classes.
