The light at the end of the tunnel

Once again it is time for exams here at La Salle, and once again I’m surprised at how fast the time has passed since last semester’s finals. Once again the library is packed with students at all times, while the cafeteria is emptier than normal. The light at the end of the tunnel is the Easter break, which means 10 days of much needed holiday.

I will go to Norway to spend some quality time with friends and family, but for those of you staying in Barcelona I want to recommend that you check out the exhibition “1Dia1Foto”. The exhibition is centered on photography and was created by 31 different photographers who each took one photo every month during 2014.

The photos are accompanied by texts created by 31 different graphic news professionals, all from Catalunya. There are a total of 365 photos representing the days of a year with the 31 photographers and graphic news professionals representing the days of a month.

The exhibition takes place in Arts Santa Mònica. The old convent was founded way back in 1636. In 1984 it was declared a historical monument of national interest and was converted into an art gallery under the control of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The building has also been restored, with the aim of preserving the historical traces of additions and remodeling combined with the introduction of contemporary materials and facilities.

The exhibition opened 1 January this year, and will be held until the 12 April. The entrance is free, and the exhibition is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00-21:00 and Sundays from 11:00-17:00. It is closed Mondays.

Arts Santa Mònica is located at La Rambla 7, close to the metro station Drassanes (L3), and there is also a Bicing community bicycle station nearby.
