Networking requirements

Hi everyone, in today's post we will discuss the networking requirements of our bank Data Center. We will divide this explanation between this post and following one. To implement the network part we will talk about Brocade, our assigned company. Brocade is a big company that offers plenty of solutions for networks.

So first thing, let's talk about access network.  After searching and discussing we have decided to Brocade ICX 6650 Switch.

icx6650-angle1-largeThis switch is for campus LAN and classic Ethernet data center environments. It give us high-performance, high-availability, and high-density 10/40 GbE that meets the needs of business-sensitive campus deployments and data center environments.  Another important reason is this kind of switch is easily scalable, very significant if we want to make our CPD grow.

On another hand, we have SAN (Storage Area Network) in which Brocade offer a lot of solutions. Careful, we want this servers to be separated from the rest of the network, specially from external network. It is for this reason we use special switches different from the access network. This will give us another different features the others don't have.

The switches we have chosen are DCX 8510 Backbones. These are the most reliable, scalable, and high-performance switching infrastructure for mission-critical storage. They are designed to unleash the full potential of high-density server virtualization, cloud architectures, and flash storage.

So now, we have the first idea of our network. In the next posts we will talk about redundancy, load balancers, etc...
