Energetic efficiency

In this post we talk about energetic efficiency and how to optimize the power consumption in our Data Center. It would be very important to be very efficient in these consumptions because that will allow save operational costs and we will make our contribution on environment consuming as little as possible.

Problems created by a bad temperature management could be the following:

  • Increasing energy costs
  • Provide too high temperature on our equipment to the point of malfunctioning.
  • Problems with temperature control
  • Inability to gather Data Center Certifications

Very conscious of these problems, we will design hot aisle / cold aisle technique. That means that we design our data center in a rack rows. There will be alternatively hot aisles and cold aisles. Cold aisles will be closed with doors and false ceiling to maintain as possible the inside cooling. In these aisles there will be the cooling machines to introduce cool air in aisle. This air will cool devices. On the other hand, data center devices will eject hot air to the hot aisle. In this way we will gather air flows which optimize device cooling.

Hot/Cold Aisle

In addition we will take care about possible power supply failures. For that we will have some additional power generation to provide power in these extremes situations. But while these devices are turning on, we need to maintain power on data center, for that we will use SAI devices which are big batteries maintained charged attending a power failure to provide power and continue supplying energy in a transparent mode to data center devices.
