New DEA presented on building acoustics

A new DEA (Advanced Studies Diploma) was successfully presented within the research group on Media Technologies, in the area of acoustics, by the PhD candidate Pere Artís, here there is a summary of his research:
Sound insulation prediction models have certain known limitations that, in combination with inadequate workmanship, may lead to  poor acoustic prediction and performance in buildings. A deep study of different techniques to rank subsystem contributions to sound pressure level in a room, due to noise generated in a neighbour room, has been carried out. From an experimental point of view, the Global Transfer Direct Transfer (GTDT) method seems to be the most promising approach to solve this problem. The aim of this work and future thesis is to characterize and develop the GTDT method in building acoustics both, for normalized transmission rooms in an acoustic laboratory, and in a real building scenario. This will be done in the framework of the multidisciplinary project VITRASO funded by ACCIÓ and FEDER.
