Architecture students Ximena Andrade, Pablo Garrofé and Guillermo Hernández represent the team that won the La Salle-URL section of the FORO CERÁMICO HISPALYT competition, which this year encouraged students from all over the country to design a chapel on the Way of Saint James pilgrimage route in the town of Carrecalza, in Palencia. The winners, who received 300 euros prize money, will now take part in the national competition, which will pick the best project from among all those submitted to the many participating architecture schools.
In addition, the jury awarded two honourable mentions, which are now also in the running for the national prize. The first of the mentions was for the group represented by Martin Nicholls, Martina Blázquez and Lucas Escudero; and the second mention went to Eduard Vilà’s project. A total of 25 proposals were presented by students of the La Salle School of Architecture (ETSALS), most of which were produced as part of the third year Project Design course. The jury highlighted the three projects’ advanced functionality, congruence, innovation and clarity.
The decision of the National Prize jury for the FORO CERÁMICO HISPALYT competition is to be announced on 30 September of this year, with a 3,000-euro prize for the best project and 1,000 euros for the runners-up.
