First Lego League elimination round held in La Salle-URL a huge success

Last Saturday, La Salle-URL hosted a First Lego League Qualifying Tournament that proved a great success in terms of both attendance and results. FIRST LEGO League is a programme that allows young people to discover the fun of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) while solving real problems through meaningful, playful learning. This international robotics challenge for young people aged between 10 and 16 consists of various phases, and the La Salle-URL Campus hosted one of the qualifying rounds with the participation of 23 teams from all over Catalonia.

The teams presented: a Scientific Project to solve a real problem, the autonomous robot they have built and programmed using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology to solve the missions of the Robot Game, as well as explaining how they have developed the FIRST LEGO League Values. This year the challenge is INTO ORBIT, in which the FIRST LEGO League teams will travel to space where they will explore, challenge and innovate.

The two teams classifying in first and second position also obtained a pass to the final phase of the tournament to be held in March in Tenerife. After a whole morning of presentations and robots giving 100% on their missions, the winners were:

- 1st place: Bepa Team from Escuela Betania Patmos.

- 2nd place: Bambinas La Vall from Colegio La Vall.

- 1st place for FIRST LEGO League Values: Robo Nova from La Salle Bonanova.

- 2nd place for FIRST LEGO League Values: Star Drops from Colegio La Vall.
