Commitment to animation and video games
The biggest news for the 2019-2020 academic year is in Art, Design & Technology, where a new Master’s Degree in Animation and Visual Effects has been launched, specialising in all subjects related to digital art, visual effects and advanced animation. This programme meets the highly specific training needs in the field among current students of the Animation Degree and VFX at La Salle-URL. This undergraduate is seeing its first class graduating this year and until now lacked the specialist post-graduate training options they needed.
The programme is aimed at professionals with a technical knowledge base in animation who wish to specialise in one of the three pathways available: Digital Arts, Advanced Animation and Visual Effects-VFX. The End-of-Master’s project will be a professional-standard production mentored and supervised by world-renowned directors and professionals in the sector. Students will be able to find out more about the international animation sector by attending the best fairs and festivals, as well as going on a placement at some of the best global companies. Santi Fort, coordinator of the Master's, commented that “La Salle-URL is offering this Master’s with three different pathways to meet the current needs of the industry, which is seeing a trend towards greater specialisation”. “This means our students gain all the technical knowledge and meet the exacting standards that will mark them as great professionals and give them the best chance to take on projects at the highest level at any company in the world”, adds Fort.
The Art, Design & Technology field is rounded off by our Master’s in Advanced Game Development, which will prepare students to enter the international video game industry, whether it be the indie sector or at AAA game companies. Professionals studying this programme will gain the knowledge they need in programming and in particular design, as well as production, allowing students to work in multidisciplinary teams. The Master’s is taught in English and is aimed at graduates in ICT engineering such as multimedia or computer science, as well as people who are already working in the field of video games and who want to expand their knowledge.
