Mobile World Capital Barcelona
Within the sessions of the Innovation Club of La Salle - AMETIC, last thursday 3rd of May we met the project Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCB) and the initiatives it promotes. The CEO of the MWCB, Mr. Ginés Alarcón, presented the project in which Barcelona wants to lead the mobile transformation that we are living nowadays.
Given the social transformation we are living through mobile technologies Mr. Alarcón stressed the value of the change as a source of opportunities for companies, whatever the company workplace is. In addition, he defined how health, citizen mobility, cars, ond other industries can benefit from this transformation.
Therefore, Barcelona aims to be the capital and leader of this transformation. Mr. Alarcón stressed the role of the city as a facilitator between the different actors involved in the technological and social change. In this sense, Barcelona brings together all stakeholders and provides spaces and activities to foster relationships and progress together in order to offer a better quality of life and a common benefit.
Finally, the same Mr. Alarcón explained the various initiatives launched by the MWCB: the Mobile World Congress, the Mobile World Hub, the Mobile World Centre and the Mobile World Festival. Specifically, the Mobile World Congress is meant to be a meetingpoint event for business while the Mobile World Hub will serve as a permanent space for them. In addition, the Mobile World Centre is adreced to the general public and the Mobile World Festival is intended to complement it.
We appreciate the participation of Mr. Alarcón into the Innovation Club sessions, and also of all those attending the event. Next event will be about the "Future of Television", the 23rd of May at the Mobile World Centre, where we hope to greet you personally.
