Why I chose Barcelona and La Salle
At La Salle, most of the students come from abroad, and we can all understand the feeling you get when you graduate from high school and then have to think not only where are you going to study, but "in what part of the world"? These are big decisions to make. Choosing where to study is also a very important decision, because it is where you will be living, and you want a place that can offer you a great experience outside the classroom. I finally chose to study in Barcelona, because so many friends of mine in Germany were telling me it was their favorite city. They described it as vibrant, young, and exciting; perfect for students. Now that I have been living here for the past nearly three years, I completely agree. I often have friends visiting, so I get to show them the sites and be a tourist quite often, and I still have not seen all there is to see, be it night or day. Furthermore, you can almost be sure that the weather will be very tolerable year-round, allowing you to explore the city on any day. Future blogs will go into further detail about what you can do in Barcelona. When I was looking at universities in Barcelona, I was looking primarily for an international university in english. I went to an international high school, so I wanted to continue at a university with the same kind of class dynamic with small classes and the ability to communicate better with professors. I finally chose La Salle, because it offered exactly what I was looking for. I made a visit to the university after applying, and I fell in love with the campus. It is located on the upper east side of the city on the hill near Tibidabo, and the campus is full of palm trees, flowers, and plants, a great get-away from the busy city. It is also very easy to get to by bus or metro and many students, including myself, walk to university every day. When you are at the campus, you feel relaxed and the facilities are very clean. While visiting the campus, I made the decision that I wanted to study there. Now that I am in my third year, I can say that the university is very unique. As it is going through some changes and growing, like anywhere else some sacrifices have had to be made, but the prestige of the university and the quality of life you can have in Barcelona makes it all worth it.
