Back to the mac

Apple forgot for a moment its mobile devices (iPad and iPhone) and has presented to the world its new MacBooks.

The new MacBook Air models have flash memory instead of hard drive and they are available in 11 inch and 13 inch screen; starting at $999.

Other interesting feature of the new Air is that computer’s battery life lets users to surf the web for seven hours and you can leave it thirty days in standby mode.

Steve Jobs said “We see these as the next generation of MacBooks. We think all notebooks are going to be like this one day. We've been inspired by some of the work we have done on iOS and want to bring them back to the Mac”.

Later Mr. Jobs gave some data of Macs sales. Apple sold 13.7 million Macs last year, now Apple has 20.7% of US consumer market, this means that one of every five computers sold in US is a Mac.

Also Apple presented Lion, the new version of Macintosh OS that will be released next summer 2011. According to Jobs, Lion will include the best features of the iPad iOS in a Mac environment.

Like the iPad store and the iPhone store where users can buy applications for their handheld devices, Mr. Jobs announced that in 90 days will come out the Mac App store.

Moreover FaceTime for Mac and iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iDVD, and iWeb) update.

The event has reminded that Apple is still interested in making Macs and the vision of the company that a Mac and an iPad or an iPhone are closer than ever.
