The International Lasallian Advisory Research Group (ILARG) -made up of members from different Lasallian universities, institutes and schools- has recently been set up to increase research collaboration with Lasallian Higher Education Centres around the world, in pursuit of UNESCO's Millennium Development Goals on issues such as encouraging sustainable development.
In September, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota (United States) hosted the first ILARG meeting where three common areas were established to conduct joint research on environmental sustainability: water, air and soil pollution, measured by bio-indicators; the health of cities based on the principles of sustainability; and the transitions of university campuses toward sustainable development models. In each case, one of the participating universities will coordinate the group, and specifically, La Salle Campus Barcelona will take care of the second of those groups, concerning urban sustainability with the Healthy Cities project. The other coordinators of these lines of research are Universidade La Salle (Brazil) and Lewis University (United States).
La Salle Campus Barcelona will coordinate the eight international universities taking part in the project: Manhattan College (United States), Universidad De La Salle Bajío (Mexico), De La Salle University (Philippines), Universidad La Salle A.C. (Mexico), UniLaSalle Alumni (France), LASALLE College of the Arts (Singapore) and Christian Brothers University (United States). Also, in order to develop this project, La Salle Campus Barcelona has involved its six research groups to provide lines of work and methods of joint collaboration.
