One of the biggest challenges facing any company is landing the paying customers, often failing in their initial sales attempts, missing critical new customer opportunities and exhausting precious company time and capital with marginal sales results.During the Sales Bootcamp Workshop, the sales expert Kent Summers will cover basic sales concepts, mechanics, vocabulary and sales do's and don'ts at the block-and-tackle “how-to get a sale” level. The goal of this workshop is to equip attendees with the basic knowledge and skills for sales success — to increase the likelihood of early customer adoption, decrease time-to-revenue, and provide a solid foundation from which founders and key personnel can establish and grow a new business.

The workshop is comprised of two 3-hour sessions. The first session focuses on basic sales concepts, and “mechanics” for sales focus and efficiency. The second 3-hour session covers more subtle aspects of successful seller – buyer interaction (the “art” of sales), and emphasizes how to close a deal. Both sessions combine lecture, interactive attendee exercises, and anecdotal evidence from real-world sales situations to reinforce many of the topics.

Mr. Kent Summers has started, financed and sold three software companies in the Boston area, and over the past 25 years has advised on the sale of over a dozen companies. Background in high tech company sales and investment banking, primarily with early-stage ventures. Since 2001, Mr. Summers has been an active volunteer Mentor with the MIT Venture Mentoring Service (VMS), and currently serves on the board and/or advises a number of early-stage software companies in the Boston area. Since 2012, Barcelona Activa collaborates assiduously with MIT Venture Mentoring Service.

The workshop is addressed to innovation leaders, company founders and CEOs, and key start-up personnel interested in learning how successful sales works, as well as experienced entrepreneurs looking to brush up on their sales skill.
