Batteries charged in minutes

Investigators from University of Illinois have created a new type of batteries that can be charged in minutes.
Duration and charging time of batteries have become so important for our electronic devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops.
Moreover the introduction of hybrid or electric cars makes this field of study so important.
Scientists have reduced the distance which ions have to travel before reaching an electrode.
Avoiding to go further in technical procedures; the results indicated that the new battery can be 75% charged in 2.7 seconds, and it only takes 20 seconds to recharge it to 90% of its capacity.
