Smartphones as credit cards

Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile are developing a network to allow users use their smartphones as credit cards.
Isis (project name) will use a communications technology called near-field in order to send encrypted data from smartphones to make payments.
The system will be able to send payments in short distances. System has been designed to enforce security.
Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile want to launch this application to their customers in 18 months.
