Dr. Daniel Amo runs 120km barefoot through the Daina Foundation - 1st Stage

The "1 euro = 1 veterinarian" initiative aims to raise funds to ensure the health of abandoned animals

Last Saturday, and this being the first of the three stages, one of the members of the GRETEL research group, Dr. Daniel Amo made the first leg of a sporting challenge. The challenge, running barefoot 120 kilometers in three stages, aims to raise funds for the Daina Foundation (of Mataro's animal shelter) and raise money to cover the hiring of veterinarians for abandoned animals.

With more than 21,000 interventions a year, it is estimated that about 2,000 people are needed to donate € 1 a month. However, given the high visibility of the project, it seems that this figure will be exceeded. The progress, which you can check here: https://www.teaming.net/societatprotectoraanimalsdemataro, already numbers 1282 people who have joined the initiative.

The first stage, carried out from Cal Pilé refuge (Mataró) to Can Moret refuge (l'Ametlla de Vallès), comprises a total of 48 km (marked by Wikiloc). Through urban centers, but also stretches of nature, and under the rain, Amo managed to reach his goal in a time of 6 hours. For more specific information on the first part, you can consult the following link: https://kmxcorrer.danielamo.info/120kmx2000-video-reel/.

Given the visibility that the project has had in its first stage, with repercussions in both local, sports and national newspapers, we hope that the second and third receive the corresponding attention and will be achieved -and, why not , overcome - the goal set.
