La Salle-URL in Animayo: the impact of animation education
Animayo is the annual festival focusing on the animation, visual effects and videogames industries which is held annually in Spain. Being one of the most important events of the sector in Europe, every year it offers workshops and conferences with special guests and professionals, gathering approximately 20,000 visitors.
This year's edition came packed with surprises, and among them, we found Xavi Bové, director of the Degree in Digital Arts at La Salle-URL and recognized professional of visual composition and art direction performing a lecture and workshop on art and videomapping for all attendees.

Animayo 2023 - What you can't miss at Spain's most important animation and special effects festival
During Animayo, creativity, originality and exchange of knowledge in the animation, VFX and videogames sector are encouraged, thus promoting the formation of new talents in the industry.
Transmitting and spreading the animation culture among the public to provide an optimal dissemination platform is another of the main objectives of Animayo. In this way, they connect the immense community that surrounds animation, not only nationally but internationally, encouraging networking and collaboration between professionals and participants.
Another of the event's particularities is its focus on artistic quality and technique, as well as its ability to attract prestigious guests and offer activities for all levels of experience in the sector.
Animayo included up to 7 sections during the festival.
With the intention of enhancing the experience of attendees and animation professionals, the festival developed different sections that offered activities related to the sector:

La Salle-URL joins Animayo to train new animation talents
La Salle-URL has a strong commitment to the training of new talents in the animation and special effects sector. Therefore, during the festival, the presence of the campus could be seen in different activities, workshops and conferences.
Xavi Bové, director of the Degree in Digital Arts and recognized professional in the world of animation and VFX, had the opportunity to discover to the participants the possibilities of the video-mapping technique applied to artistic projects on buildings, scenographies, live musicians, VJ, in museums or presentations.
Art and video-mapping workshop
During the workshop (100% practical) attendees learned about the creation of audiovisual content through tools for video games and mapping techniques.
Participants learned how to use specific tools for the creation of visual content and experimented with different light and sound effects to create immersive visual experiences. The workshop was the perfect opportunity for attendees to acquire useful skills from the digital art, animation and VFX industry.
The results were showcased during the live festival closing party.
