Data Center requirements: Bank

Data Center requirements for a banking company

Data Center Requirements

As we explained in this blog presentation, today I’m going to talk about the Data Center Requirements a our design must fulfill in order to be considered acceptable for a big banking company.

As I’m sure anyone who has worked for big banks knows, this kind of companies don’t mess around with the security of their data, the availability of their services and the budged destined to IT. That’s why our design must be a high quality one, fulfilling the following requirements:

  • High availability: Our client can lose a lot of money if the Data Center we are designed is not available, so we must ensure, with redundancy and backup equipment, that the services we offer will always be available.
  • Security: Data from our client client’s cannot be stolen, corrupted or destroyed, so we must define a restrictive security policy and ensure its correct implementation, with access controls, new generation firewalls and blocking outgoing traffic with sensitive data.
  • Bandwidth: Last, but not least, we must design our Data Center in order to support high amounts of traffic, both from the bank staff and the bank’s clients, while they use the bank's services.

Tacking all those requirements into account, our main and most important job will surely be maintaining the quality of the solution while minimizing the budget our client should invest. In order to do that, we will investigate and compare most of the state of the art technologies and solutions of some well-known manufacturers, like Cisco, NEC, Barracuda Networks and Extreme Networks.

Do you think we forgot to include any important Data Center requirements? Feel free to use the comment section!

In our next post, we will describe the solutions offered by those enterprises that every telematics professional should know about! Keep an eye on it!
