The different block of our solution

Today we'll review each of the block of the CPD.

Let's start with the network block.

We choose a spine and leaf type for the Data-Center. We will use this because it is better for virtuals environment in which there are a lot of traffic west-east.

In a leaf-spine architecture, a leaf switch is connected to other switches in the network. The server with which the leaf switch is connected is not important because the leaf switch will have to cross, for each connection to any server, the same number of devices. This is not the case if the new connected server is on the same leaf.

Advantages are that the latency and bottlenecks are minimized due to the fact that payloads will just have to go to a spine switch and then to a leaf switch to arrive to their endpoint.

For the servers block:

We picked HP ConvergedSystem 250-HC StoreVirtual essentially because it do on the same device the storage and the virtualization.

With this we don’t need a SAN that could be complicated to implement.

The hypervisor on this server is VMware. Well it is a good brand widely used with a good support.

It is really easy to set up. With the assistant OneView InstantOn in 15 minutes it is set up and ready to work.

One another strong aspect is that you can easily add another device if you don’t have enough and you don’t have to shutdown everything to install it. The service you provide will stay up during the process and no performance issue will be seen.

There is redundancy in the power for this server.

Replication between server, disk is possible to keep the application up and running at all time.

It also support IMC - Intelligent Management Center that will speak about later.

Now the security part:

We have to improve the security of our Data Center. For that, we have two level of security.

  • Hardware

o   Security guards

o   Security cameras

o   ID card for specific area

o   Single access corridor

  • Software

o   IDS/IPS

o   FortiGate (from Fortinet)

For the management part, we want to use a tool from HP, the HPE Intelligent Management Center Enterprise Software Platform.

It’s a comprehensive wired and wireless network management tool. It will provide for end-to-end business management of IT, scalability, accommodation of new technology according to HP.

And finally for the Quality of Service:

Firstly, we have to monitor the activity of the network and the activity of the users.

We will monitor it with the goal to improve the network if it is possible by looking if there is a rush hour on the network for example.

Secondly, we need a DNS equipment, it is a must-have, there is not a lot of people who reach the pages they need by utilizing IP address and a tool to manage the ports of all the devices.

Thirdly, we need a reporting and a management tool to centralize everything on one and only one console.

Fourthly and finally, we need a tool to manage the bandwidth to make the critical transaction be prioritized and to use the best policy in different scenario.

That's all, if you want more information on our solution leave you mail address in the comment and we can send you the full report.
