La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL receives special recognition in The 20th Night of Telecommunications and Computer Science for the 50th anniversary of the Telecommunications School

On February 26th the  20th Night of Telecommunications and Computer science jointly organized by the Catalan Association of Telecommunication Engineers (Telecos.cat) and the Col·legi Oficial d'Enginyeria en Informàtica de de Catalunya (COEINF) which rewards the best professionals and projects of the past year in the ICT sector was celebrated. La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL received special recognition for the creation of the first Telecommunications School of Catalonia. The General Director of La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL, Josep M. Santos, received the award accompanied by Brother Mateo, who participated very actively in the creation of the School 50 years ago. Brother Mateo, in an emotional speech, recalled some of the moments lived in those early days of Telecommunications in Catalonia. Josep M. Santos highlighted that at the time of the creation of studies "one of the key successes was hearing the voice of the enterprises, performing a labor and industry study in the early sixties. And it was the study that concluded that 50% of the electronic industries in the state were Catalan, although the absence of a training center in Catalonia to prepare qualified personnel". The ceremony was chaired by Joana Ortega, vice president of the Generalitat and was attended by the Mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias.
