The Architecture School of La Salle-URL wins a project to build an energetically self-sufficient home in Barcelona

Nou Barris Library hosted the presentation of projects for the construction of an energetically self-sufficient residence in the area of Torre Baró (Barcelona), organized by the city council of Barcelona on February 18th. Barcelona’s five architecture schools participated in the project: the Architecture School of La Salle, the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona, the Superior Technical School of Vallès, the Architecture School of the International University of Catalonia and the Advanced Architecture Institute of Catalonia. Each group had 30 minutes to present their project in an order previously chosen by draw.  Barcelona's Mayor, Xavier Trias attended the presentations, and once these were completed, the jury selected the best option, the one presented by the Architecture School of La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL. Nevertheless, it was decided that the building will be carried out with input of the other four schools also participating in the conference. The Neighbor’s Association of Torre Baró also participated in the project, which has the finality of producing its own energy through solar panels and wind. It is still not clear whether it will also include a biomass plant and integrated water management. The project also includes an urban agriculture plan including a hothouse.
