Drawit: a project that allows the relationship between people and objects by drawing on a blank sheet of paper

The Research Group in Media Technology of La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL, directed by David Miralles and with the work of Marc Exposito, developed the project Drawit. Starting from a blank sheet on a Tablet, the user is able to draw the objects he/she wishesh to interact with and adapt them to his/her needs. Drawit aims to create a seamless interaction and has the will to transcend the screen. The goal is to reinterpret the relationship between objects and people in order to achieve a more human and direct interaction through a visual language, rather than on the usual interfaces and interaction functionalities. Objects have predefined interfaces, and are increasingly connected and created with more features. Drawit allows getting rid of interfaces, breaking with the predetermined schemes and customizes the interfaces with which we interact. Its functionality is innovative. First, you choose the shape of the object that you want to interact with, as the application can recognize the drawn shape. For example, a circle drawn on the tablet and connected to a lamp, represents this lamp.  Drawit recognizes touch gestures, so it is possible to perform various actions with that circle, such as turn it on/off or change the colour of the lamp. It also allows you to create more complex interfaces, such as connecting different objects with common shapes, keeping their functionalities. For example, connecting the drawing that has been given to a speaker with the drawing given to the lamp on the tablet, you can turn it on/ off or change the colour of the light as the music plays. Furthermore, Drawit can also relate objects to one another, creating an interaction that adapts to the context. For example, connecting these two pictures, the light can change colour to the beat of the music. Finally, Drawit allows you to program actions. For example, creating a form between two circles of different colours, which can represent the lamp, and pressing above it, connecting the two drawings. The time stipulated by the pressure in the way that will elapse between a change in colour (the circle representing 1) and the other colour (representing the circle 2). Thus, from the sofa you could remotely and virtually control all appliances and many household items in a very direct and natural way.
