Josep M. Piqué receives the Excellence Award to the ICT Professional

Josep M. Piqué, executive president of La Salle Technova Barcelona and President of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), received the Excellence Award for ICT Professionals this morning at the Technology Day of the Information and the ICT Communication of Catalonia. Josep M. Piqué was just this week in Istanbul, presiding over the 34th International Conference on Science and Technology Parks, and was unable to collect the prize personally, but stressed that he interprets "excellence as a combination of passion, vision, the commitment and the results "and wanted to point out that" I receive this award as an expression of recognition to people like Brother Daniel and institutions such as La Salle, who has offered me the opportunity to give my best to the world ".

The Excellence Awards distinguish those professionals, companies or institutions that promote the use of ICT and use them to improve innovation, export effort and social responsibility. The category of excellence for ICT professionals highlights that person who has contributed most to the expansion of Information and Communication Technologies in Catalonia. This award highlights both the leadership of the person and their ability to achieve excellence in this area, as well as innovation in the creation of ICT products and services that contribute to social, cultural or economic improvement. In total there are 5 prizes, with the other 4 categories in business excellence, business to social integration through ICT, digital innovation and the communication or dissemination of ICT. Josep M. Piqué is a Telecommunication Engineer from La Salle, an MBA from the Ramon Llull University and a diploma from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of California-Berkeley. His long professional experience in university management has led him to promote postgraduate programs, Technology Transfer Centers, University Incubators and Parks of Scientific and Technological Innovation, and has promoted the creation of different hybrid organizations taking the University management model -Industry- Public Administration. The core of its activity is the promotion of Knowledge based on the economy and society to consolidate Cities of Knowledge in Smart Cities, and has transferred the model of the District of Innovation of 22 @ Barcelona around the world doing a process of Transfer of knowledge to the cities of Medellín, Rio de Janeiro, Busan, Porto Alegre, Munich, Canberra, etc. Piqué promoted the creation of La Salle Technova Barcelona

and after a few years the public administration returned to September 2015 as the executive president to promote the international projection.
