Josep M. Piqué assumes the Presidency of The Triple Helix Association
Dr. Josep M. Piqué, Executive President of La Salle Technova Barcelona, professor at International School of Commerce and Digital Economy at La Salle Campus Barcelona - Ramon Llull University and past president of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) assumed the Presidency of The Triple Helix Association during the General Assembly celebrated on November 30th.
The Triple Helix Association (THA), an international not-for-profit organization with a scientific purpose based in Rome, Italy, promotes and leads studies generated by the interaction between universities, businesses, and governments enhancing research and innovation. “The Triple Helix Association has the vision to be the Global Reference for Scholars, Practitioners and Policy Makers in the Research and Development of the Interaction between University-Industry-Government”, says Dr. Piqué.
The 2021 strategy is based on developing publications, organizing events, and managing the community through a variety of activities, from establishing international symposia; improving international exchange between academics, researchers, students, practitioners, policy makers, and people from around the world; supporting for the development of the TH Journal publication and other media; as well as the delivery of honors and awards.
Triple Helix's theory of innovation was developed in the 1990s by Henry Etzkowitz, in which Dr. Piqué was a disciple and co-wrote several papers and Loet Leydesdorff. This theory establishes the interactions between the university, government, and industry fostering innovation, economic growth, and social welfare. Nowadays is a global reference for scholars, practitioners, and policy makers.
