La Salle Catalunya places the first stone of a new university residence

Last July 23 the ceremony for the  placing of the first stone of the new "University residence Campus La Salle” took place at  La Salle Campus Barcelona - URL" with the participation of the  Mayor of BarcelonaXavier Trias, as well as the Rector of Ramon Llull University,  Josep Maria Garrell, and the Auxiliary Bishop of Barcelona, Sebastià Taltavull. This new facility, designed by Terradas Architects, will have capacity for 349 people and will strength the internationalization of La Salle's University center in Barcelona. It is expected to begin operating in September 2014. This new project is the result of an agreement between La Salle Catalunya and RESA, aware of the University's internationalization process and in anticipation of the increase in the population of University students interested in accommodation in the Sarrià - Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona. The  Chief delegate of RESA , Francisco Guarner, underlined the importance of public-private collaboration in the development and realization of accommodation infrastructures and services in universities and he highlighted RESA's vocation for  integration and cooperation in its 20 years of service to the main Spanish universities, with 7,300 rooms in 27 residences. From La Salle Catalunyathe Auxiliary Visitor Josep Guiteras, pointed out that "the construction of this residence strengthens the bet for internationalization of La Salle's University Center in Barcelona". Guiteras emphasized that 'the Lasallian institution has presence in 83 countries around the world, with 1,600 schools, 75,000 workers and nearly a million of students'. The "University Residence Campus La Salle" will be located on the premises of La Salle Campus Barcelona, founder member of Ramón Llull University. The rooms are mostly individual and have a kitchen and bathroom, air conditioning, telephone and Internet access. Students, teachers, researchers and candidates will be able to enjoy the modern facilities the residence will offer such as: fitness room, study rooms, entertainment rooms, laundry facilities and a restaurant, among others. The construction has been developed by Fausto Facioni constructions, company specialized in the construction of university residences.
