La Salle-URL presents a platform for energy services to improve urban energy efficiency

La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL presented the platform for energy services EECITIES within the framework of the activities that took place in the European Union on the occasion of the Sustainable Energy Week. The platform examines the destination of government subsidies to improve urban energy efficiency. The information is classified to help public authorities make decisions about where and how to invest public funds and in this way a greater impact on urban energy demand and the shortage of fuel is achieved. Therefore, EECITIES is a provider of energy analysis, used to help a good planning of energy efficient cities. The platform is the result of the research project SEMANCO. EECITIES services are based on the technologies developed in this project and providers are experts also involved in the development of the project.SEMANCO integrated platform provides access to data related to the energy of cities that have been stored by many different organizations. While EECITIES supports the improvement of energy analysis based on the evaluation of existing data rather than estimates. This is done using a semantic data modelling that allows that information stored in different formats and locations be used to create a model of multi-level energy of a urban area. For example, one of its profits is the analysis of energy efficiency of buildings, neighbourhoods, districts and regions. During the presentation, energy services offered by the platform, its features and applications that have already been developed in the cities of Newcastle, Copenhagen, Turin and Manresa were explained.
