Two professors of Robotics at La Salle-URL participate in a conference on therapeutic robots

The city of Almere (Netherlands) will host the next 22 and 23 October the 1st International Congress on social robots for therapy and education, "New Friends". This sector has soared in recent years and Artificial Intelligence begins to separate from fiction to become a potentially useful tool for patients with dementia, autism or people with other disabilities. Two professors of Robotics at La Salle-URL participate in the Congress, Jordi Albó and Alex Barco, along with other professionals, and will present a study on education for children with special needs. Jordi Albó, part of the organizing committee of the conference, also organizes a workshop on care robots, a project carried out jointly with the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona. La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL is an official partner. The event aims to bring the world of robotics to reality and to present the latest developments in the sector. Therefore studies on Artificial Intelligence play a key role at the conference, that turns around the idea of socialization and the function that Robotics can have in disciplines such as health, psychology and education. To achieve this goal, the conference brings together researchers, professionals, students and programmers from various fields who know Artificial Intelligence and Social Robotics scopes.
