Great success of VEX Robotics and Clautic Cup 2016, two robots competitions
On Saturday, 20th February, robots reoccupied La Salle Campus-URL with the VEX Robotics Competition and Clautic Cup, with nearly 200 participants overall and a great success of audience who enjoyed the thrill of the competition. VEX Robotics Competition celebrates the local Barcelona competition in the categories of Middle/High School (12-18 years) and University (18-23 years), with 19 participating teams. Among them, there were 4 teams from China, one from Turkey and one from Senegal. Throughout the morning the qualifying round took place, in which robots had to score a basket. In the University category, the Excellence Award went to Anna Gironella team of Mundet 1.In the category Middle / High School awards went to: Excellence for the Chinese team Changchun; design for the RoboCaspers; Programming for Mbeurou Weigne of Senegal; and Premi La Salle went to the VeXio team. Regarding the ClauTIC Cup, aimed at young people between 8 and 18 years old, the first 8 teams that participated classified during the year in the Gold and Silver League. They competed in two different tests: construction of columns and speed circuit. The excitement and equality were the predominant note, and finally three teams were ranked in first place tied with 28 points and the order awards were decided by other concepts applied to robots. The first was finally the team Cyberbrain, second Manyanet Blanes, third Arcadroidex, teamwork award for Roboto and Fair Play award for Coneix Team. On the other hand, during the day various talks and workshops for all attendees took place: an exchange of Clautic member experiences; a talk about 3D printing and Virtual reality applied to education; a discussion of the Video Games and Clautic members; and a conference by the Robotics coordinator of La Salle-URL, Jordi Albo, on social STEAM.
