Ramon Llull University will invest Vint Cerf, considered one of the “fathers” of the Internet, as Doctor Honoris Causa by proposal of La Salle
It is impossible to imagine our daily lives without the Internet. Vint Cerf’s contributions to the development of the Internet and the World Wide Web make him one of the leaders of the digital revolution that has completely transformed commerce, communication and entertainment worldwide. On Tuesday 21st June, Ramon Llull University will invest Vinton Cerf, one of the creators of the Internet for his design of TCP / IP protocols and basic network architecture, as Doctor Honoris Causa, by proposal of La Salle. In 1992, he was one of the founders of the Internet Society and its first president. He also actively participated in the creation of the first commercial email service. In 1999 he joined the Board of the Internet (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) until 2007. He is currently working in the group of advisors of Scientists and Engineers for America, an organization focused on promoting sound science in American government, and global vice president of Google.
