Telematics' students from La Salle-URL support Cisco to create the network of the NBA

Five telematics' students from La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL have been selected by Cisco Systems to support the basketball game between FC Barcelona and Oklahoma City Thunder of the NBA Global Games Barcelona, the pre-season for the American team.

Students who have been selected are Guillermo Dobao, Pol Samarra, Jordi Cid, Giselle Salas and Judit Boixader, and will deal with the installation and maintenance of the network infrastructure that the NBA set at Palau Sant Jordi, where the game took place on October 4. Through this network the NBA serves its own staff, equipment, press, referees and markers, and allows connection to the NBA headquarters in the US to access real time data and statistics.

Students have been chosen after presenting to a call from the Cisco Networking Academy, where they had to write a letter of motivation to participate in this event, explain some of their best projects and mention their language skills. One of the most valuable points in the selection process was the fact of having completed or be enrolled at certifications CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) by Cisco Systems, highly valued certifications currently in the labour market. All students in Telematics’ Engineering of La Salle course it.

After the selection process, students received instructions on how to develop their activities during these days. They have begun to support the NBA in this collaboration with Cisco and may continue to do so until the day of the match.
