Clàudia Carreras, finalist in the contemporary architecture contest 'Young Talent Architecture Award'

Clàudia Carreras has been one of 9 selected as finalists for the Young Talent Architecture Award 2016. YTAA is a contest where 211 projects of 286 students from 100 different universities in 86 countries were submitted. The contest rewards the best graduated architects' end of career projects in the fields of architecture, urban design and landscape. Obtaining this award is a giant leap for young people selected, entering headfirst into the elite of European architecture. For them also is a covering letter to a large audience that would later require their talent for future projects. Carreras presented a project called "Living in a culture environment" for the city of Nanjing in China. La Salle gave her the opportunity to visit this country through the fifth course of Architectural Projects of the Bachelor in Architecture. They visited China for ten days to understand first-hand the traditional and modern architecture of the country. A 'Join Studio' was developed along with the Southeast University (SEU) with which a comprehensive analysis of the city of Nanjing and the site where it would project a building was made. Carreras was not indifferent after this trip, either by the ancient origins of China, for its cultural diversity or the complex coexistence between tradition and modernity. That's why Carreras created its end of career project -with which she participated in the Young Talent Architecture Award 2016. "Living in a cultural environment" is the project of a cultural centre and an artistic residence that aims to be a meeting point not only for the neighbourhood but for the city. The idea was to create a cultural and social space that would respect the essence of tradition. With this project Carreras was selected as one of the 9 finalists and was invited to Venice to the awards ceremony, which took place on October 28 at the Teatro Piccolo Arsenale. Currently Clàudia has already finished her studies (Bachelor in Architecture at La Salle-URL and Master International at KU Leuven, Belgium) but his passion for architecture makes her ensure that her training is going to be much longer lasting.
