Case Study: Design of a data center

Today i will introduce the practical case of the subject.

The case consist of designing a data center of new generation for a financial institution, with the equipment of my assigned manufacturers (IBM Servers, Arita Networks and Paloalto Security), and then compare that solution with the solution that offers cisco.

Because of that, the center will have to meet important characteristics: high availability, high security andhigh rate of connections. In order to achieve that, the budget and the equipments will be high.

There are also some requirements that the project must meet.

• Network: Very high robust and available network.
• QoS: Prioritize the more important transactions and apply the best policy.
• Security: High security in order to protect the critical information of the services that offers a financial institution.
• Services: Reduce the maximum amount of equipment and consolidate  the resources.

I will be posting more information about that requirements from now on until the end of the subject.

Then in the last day i will present the project in order to explain my solution.
