Virtualization on our data center

To implement the services which our data center will offer, we will search the way to reduce expenses, to take profit of our resources and use only the equipment we need. Those we can achieve applying virtualization on data center. This is needed to have a new generation data center.

Therefore, applying virtualization we can treat servers in a virtual way, that is, we can allocate some servers in a one physical machine, thus profit much better our equipment, because we will use more efficiently our resources.

In this way we don’t need many servers as services. This better utilization will provide us energy savings and thus, money savings, because it’s not necessary to power as many machines.
Another advantage that offers virtualization is that virtual machines are files. Therefore, we can treat as files, and that will make easier to manage the virtual servers.

But, virtualization provides very powerful tools to manage machines. Note the capability to move powered on virtual machines on different physical equipment without failures of service. This capability is known as vMotion. In next posts we can explain more about this property.

Our server manufacturer is Oracle. For this reason we will choose its virtualization solution for our data center, which is Oracle OpenStack.
