Today we will focus in Oracle devices and services, which is our server manufacturer. The purpose of this post is to give a first approach to the Oracle servers and which solutions can we find.

SPARCAs many people would know, Oracle has one of the best virtualization software existing on the market nowadays. Only Oracle offers the industry's most complete and integrated virtualization, from desktop to the data center. Oracle enables you to virtualize and manage your full hardware and software stack.

So there is no doubt if we are going to use Oracle servers we will have the perfect complement within the company with Oracle VM Server.

Thus, we have chosen Oracle's SPARC servers with OVMS inside. This will give us a very interesting features that other companies may not have:

  • Create up to 128 virtual servers on one system to take advantage of the massive thread scale
  • Flexible and secure live migration between hosts
  • Redundant virtual networks and disks for higher availability
  • Automatic CPU dynamic resource management places resources where they are needed the most fully dynamic resource management of CPU, memory, virtual I/O, and crypto accelerators on running virtual machines

Therefore, the devices we will use for our purpose will be Oracle’s SPARC Enterprise T-Series which many companies use in big datacenters and are the best for business critical applications and extreme performance workloads.

Ending up, we think that the Sun Server X4-8 would be the best option rather than SPARC T5-2 Server.  One the most important reason is because can work with a lot of OS while T5-2 just with Solaris. Besides Sun Server has a greater amount of CPU, sockets and memory size.
