What are the virtualization and the cloud computing?
In today’s article we’ll see what virtualization and cloud computing are and the main differences that there are between those two.
We’ll start with the virtualization.
So this is a type of software used to make virtual resources.
To be more accurate, the virtualization allows you to run different OS/applications on your system and that at the same time. Not like a simple dual boot for example. The virtual resources use real resources, I mean that your Linux based OS running on your windows OS thanks to the virtualization can have access to the host system and interact with physical component like your usb port. The virtualization is a really good thing, it improves the efficiency in servers. It is also really useful if you want to try another OS or train on networking machines.
Virtualization makes systems independent of the physical hardware layer.
Its strength are a maximization of resources, the multiple systems supported and the ability to launch multiple systems at the same time.
Now the cloud computing.
“The cloud computing is the delivery of shared computing resources, software or data – as a service on demand through the Internet.” According to this website.
The cloud computing is a service which can implement virtualization but not always. The strength of a cloud computing comes from is agility, if you have an application running on a server and the server crash, your apps will probably be back on track in a matters of seconds because while a server crash your application is transferred to another one as a simple package.
But since the cloud computing is a service there are several type of service available.
We have the IaaS, the PaaS and the SaaS. To better understand this, I recommend you this website.
That’s all for today. I hope you learned one thing or two and stay tuned for more.
