The Architecture of a Data Center

Hi everyone ! Today we'll talk about the general architecture of a data center.

 

Firstly, a Data Center need to be thoroughly planned, we have to take into account that someday we'll have to make it evolve and fast.

We have Data Center based on a layered approach :

We have three layers :

  • the core layer make the link between the Data Center network and the Internet.
  • the aggregation layer provides a lot of service for the Data Center. This is where we can find the firewall and a lot of other security features.
  • the access layer is the place where the servers are.

Beside that we have the multi-tier model which is a bit more complicated.

In this model we have three type of servers the web server, the database server and the application server and with that we have the classical stuff to make the link between each device (switch, router, firewall, IDS ...)

What has HP to offer in term of Data Center ?

Well it is hard to answer, somehow I can't find anything specific about their service offer of Data Center. It is probably to not have their design stole.

So what we have is this and the documentation.

It could correspond to what we need but this files are lacking details on the network plan.
