Four Research Projects carried out by ARC, presented at the Construmat Fair

Four research projects (OIKONET, PROHABIT, ENERSI and OPTEEMAL) recently completed by the research group ARC Engineering and Architecture La Salle were presented at the stand of the Col.legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya in the latest edition of the Construmat Fair which took place in Barcelona, from May 14th thru 17th 2019. 

Leandro Madrazo introduced the trajectory of the research group ARC, and the different lines of research and projects developed over their 20 years of continuous activity.

Leandro Madrazo and Ángel Martín presented the research project PROHABIT, co-financed by the RecerCaixa programme. A major output of this project is the qualitative data analysis system PROHABIT: MAPPER, developed by ARC. This online system enables researchers from various disciplines to share and collaboratively developed with residents their analyses of the relationships between people and the spaces they inhabit.   

Álvaro Sicilia and Fabian López presented the ENERSI research project, co-funded by the “Retos Colaboración” programme of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. The result of the project are two on-line applications - ENERHAT (Energy Housing Assessment Tool) and ENERPAT (Energy Planning Assessment Tool) - to promote the rehabilitation of the residential building stock, by facilitating information about the buildings’ energy efficiency. Thee applications integrate data from multiple sources: energy performance certificates, building technical inspections, cadastre, geographic data and census.

Gonçal Costa presented the results of OPTEEMAL, a research project carried out in the last four years co-funded by the HORIZON 2020 programme. One of the challenges of this project was to provide a solution for interoperability between BIM models and energy simulation models. To achieve this objective, the ARC group developed, in collaboration with other partners, a data transformation and integration process applying Semantic Web technologies.
