The creativity and innovation management Journal has just published “How entrepreneurial practices balance art and business: Insights into creative entrepreneurship in the European film industry” by Viktoriya Pisotska and Kerem Gurses
Dr. Kerem Gurses, researcher at the Innova Institute, shares with us his last work recently published by "The creativity and innovation management" journal.
Dr. Gurses and Dr. Pisotska have based their research on the literature on tensions and contradictions and the theory of practice, combined with the literature on creative industries. The aim of this paper was to analyse "how creative entrepreneurs balance the tension between art and business and respond to other challenges of creative entrepreneurship. The multiple case studies method is adopted by examining founders, cofounders and main employees of European film production companies."
Some of the findings of the study are:
- The article presents a typology of challenges encountered by creative entrepreneurs in their pursuit of entrepreneurial activities.
- Furthermore, the article explores the organizational practices employed by creative entrepreneurs to navigate the challenges of their field.
- Finally, the role of the producer is discussed in depth to shed light on the crucial role of agency in these practices.
Through this comprehensive examination, this article contributes to the existing literature on creative entrepreneurship and provides insights for aspiring creative entrepreneurs seeking to establish themselves in the marketplace.
