Arachnophobia, an App designed to treat phobias

La Salle R&D research group  in Media Technologies and   Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Psychology, Educational Sciences and Sport  submitted the project Arachnophobia to the V Conference on R&D + i in ICT and Health that was held in Girona on June, 5th and 6th. This proposal consists of an App that assists the psychologist in the treatment of patients with phobias. Arachnophobia  is based on Augmented Reality, creating controlled visual stimuli for patients and, even monitoring their heart rate.

TECNIO

Using this App only requires a tablet with a camera and offers support for 3D graphics. Results as well as therapist notes are stored to allow proper monitoring of the patient during the various sessions. Recent advances in information technology have enabled the development of new tools that can be applied to fields as diverse as psychology. This is the case of Apps, that should be economical and easy to get a foothold in therapeutic consultations. La Salle R&D has presented this project in Girona as TECNIO center.
