Josep Miquel Piqué, new Executive President of La Salle Technova Barcelona

Josep Miquel Piqué has occupied the Executive Presidency of La Salle Technova Barcelona, the Technological Innovation and Business Park of La Salle-URL, created in 2001. Josep Piqué (Barcelona 1967) returns to La Salle after eight years in the City Council of Barcelona where he held various positions as CEO of 22 @, Director of Strategic Sectors and Innovation and, most recently, Director of the Office of Economic Growth. In a previous period in La Salle-URL, from 1997 to 2007, Josep Piqué drove the creation of La Salle Technova and was responsible for Postgraduate and Masters Programs and Technology Transfer. Now he comes to La Salle to promote the international projection of La Salle Technova, thanks to the Vice-presidency that he holds at IASP (International Association of Science Parks). Another aim for the coming years is to continue investing in innovation of enterprises, especially through corporate venture that will enhance the park. Piqué is Telecommunications Engineer by La Salle, MBA by Ramon Llull University and Graduate by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of California-Berkeley. He has driven his long experience in university management to the promotion of postgraduate programs, technology transfer centres, university incubators and Scientific and Technological Innovation Parks. He also promoted the creation of different hybrid organizations taking the management model of management University-Industry-Public administration. The centre line of his activity is the promotion of knowledge based in economy and society to consolidate cities of knowledge in Smart Cities.
