La Salle-URL hosted the IV Congress of ARLEP District Directors in Barcelona

Between November 18th and 21st the IV Congress of Directors of the ARLEP District had place, organized by the Catalonia Sector. The Campus of La Salle-URL hosted the first day events. At 16.00 pm at the La Salle Campus Barcelona auditorium, different personalities both from the Lasallian family and other institutions carried out the inauguration of the event. Speeches were given by the BrotherJesús Miguel Zamora, Visitor of the District; Brother Josep Guiteras, Auxiliary Visitor of the Catalonia Sector; Joan Vila, President of APSEC (Professional Association of Educational Services of Catalonia) and Miquel Garcia Casaponsa, Director General of subsidized and private schools of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Then came the presentation of Xavier Melgarejo, Doctor in Pedagogy, author of the bestseller "Thanks, Finland" and now pedagogical coordinator of Claret School in Barcelona. In his paper, "The schools of the XXI century", he narrated his experience in Finland, providing data on the functioning of the educational system in this country. The aim was to awaken possible ideas to be developed in the centres, always bearing in mind "the character" that has to set "the basis of innovation," according to Melgarejo. Finally, the university offer of La Salle was presented, led by the General Director Josep Marti Santos, and the day ended with a visit to the Campus. The Congress continued two more days with visits to centres of Barcelona to know the pedagogical model, to La Salle Bonanova, the largest school around the ARLEP District and the city of Barcelona. The last day other district centres with innovative projects were visited and the congress closed with conclusions and analysis of the objectives achieved during the meeting.
