Catalonia selected by Eurovision for the AI Song Contest

The AI Song Festival is an international competition based on the Eurovision Song Contest, featuring songs that have been composed using artificial intelligence (AI). The inaugural edition took place on May 12, 2020 and was hosted by the Dutch broadcaster VPRO, in collaboration with NPO 3FM and NPO Innovation.

This year, Catalonia will participate in the contest with the AIMC team, made up of the linguist Màrius Serra, the computer engineer Josep Maria Ganyet, the editor Liz Castro, the playwright Pedro Peri, the Icelandic singer Halldor Mar and the English writer Matthew Tree. This group is completed by algorithm researchers Elisabet Golobardes, Marta Lobato, Daniel Sánchez, Jordi Planas, Txus Bach and Ramon Gallench, the English producer Charles Degraft-Johnson, the artists Anna Ros, Eva Pérez, Xabier Strubell and Isra Alonso and the communicators Lita Borràs and Joel Cava and led by the Swedish-Catalan Tomas Nihlén.

"This participation is an opportunity to promote ourselves as Europe's digital hub and position our culture in the world," says the promoter, who considers that "Catalan needs to penetrate new scenarios to strengthen and innovate" and concludes that "this initiative will help promote the language in young people ".

The gala will take place on June 26 in a streaming gala.
