Delegation from Brazil’s Government visits the Innovation District 22@

The Executive President of La Salle Technova, Josep Pique, explains about the district 22@ Barcelona to a delegation from the government of Brazil, who came to Barcelona looking for good examples in Smart Cities.

On February 24th,  a delegation from the government of Brazil, formed by the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC), Júlio Semeghini, the president of the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI), Igor Calvet, the president of the PRB, Wanderley Tavares da Silva, the advisor to the presidency of ABDI, Tiago Chagas Faierstei, in addition to the Brazilian vice consul in Barcelona, Vanessa Dolce de Faria and members of the Brazilian Consulate in Barcelona, have visit the innovation District 22@ Barcelona.

The visit started with the presentation of Josep Pique, about the Innovation District 22@Barcelona, in which he emphasized the importance of having a Pact for Innovation to ensure the continuity of the project despite changes of governments. From the Mediatic building, the group walked on the neighborhood of the 22@Barcelona to see the integration of universities, laboratories, green area, media centers, big corporations, incubators, coworkings, transport and residences.

The visit finished at Leitat, a Technological Center responsible to create and transfer environmental, economic and industrial sustainable value for companies through research and technology process.  Their president Jordi William Carnes, explained the role of the Leitat and the projects they have done. He also emphasized the importance of having a global metropolitan strategic, such as the good functioning and the integration of waste care, transportation, security, houses, water, etc.
