Empowering 6th Graders for a Safer Online World at First Elementary School Čakovec

On January 16, 2023, a workshop titled “Safe in the Online World” was held for 6th-grade students at First Elementary School Čakovec. This educational initiative was organized to equip young minds with the knowledge and skills needed for safe and responsible online behavior.

The workshop was skillfully conducted by Ivana Ružić, a dedicated member of the SPADATAS project and a computer science teacher at First Elementary School Čakovec. Her expertise and passion for the subject matter were evident throughout the session, ensuring that the students received top-notch guidance in navigating the digital world safely.

With a group of 20 enthusiastic children in attendance, the workshop delved into the intricacies of navigating the digital realm while staying protected from potential risks. The session covered various aspects of online safety, focusing on threats stemming from malicious software, harmful individuals, and the importance of responsible conduct.

The session commenced with an engaging lecture that shed light on the potential dangers lurking in the online world. Students were taught to be cautious and vigilant when using the internet, recognizing malicious programs, being aware of online predators, and taking responsibility for their online actions.

One of the highlights of the workshop was the interactive discussion that followed the lecture. The students actively participated, sharing their own experiences and insights into online safety. They discussed real-life scenarios and exchanged valuable advice on how to stay safe while exploring the digital landscape.

Towards the end of the workshop, the young participants channeled their creativity by creating digital posters. These posters encapsulated their collective wisdom and recommendations for safer online behavior. These posters will serve as valuable resources and reminders for their peers, promoting a safer online environment for all.
