Immersive technology in logistics education

This is what immersive IASlab education is all about.

How do you prepare today the professionals who will lead tomorrow's supply chain? At La Salle Campus Barcelona, the answer is to immerse yourself, literally, in virtual environments that put into practice the real experience of the sector.

The students of the Master in Supply Management and Technology have had the opportunity to live a unique experience: an immersive training session in the Interactive Arts & Science Laboratory (IASlab), our transdisciplinary research and artistic creation laboratory. In collaboration with the Spanish Logistics Center (CEL), they were able to experience first-hand how technology transforms the way they prepare for the real challenges of the sector.

Digital skills for an evolving industry

The supply chain is one of the sectors most impacted by digital transformation. With increasingly automated environments and interconnected systems, the demand for professionals with technical and digital skills is unstoppable.

Automation, real-time data, inventory control with drones... Everything points to a more connected, digital and demanding sector. The challenge? To prepare professionals who are able to move freely in this environment.

That's where immersive training comes into play: a learning methodology based on the simulation of real scenarios that allows you to experiment, fail, correct and improve. All in a safe and controlled environment.

What are digital twins and why are they key?

A digital twin is a virtual replica of a process, system or physical installation. Applied to training, they allow real situations to be experienced, errors to be analyzed and decisions to be made in real time. In logistics, this translates into a competitive advantage for both professionals and organizations.

Virtual reality applied to logistics

From handling machinery and order preparation to occupational risk prevention or piloting drones for inventory tasks: everything can be trained in virtual environments. Thanks to immersive reality, training transcends theory and allows students to put their knowledge into practice in simulated, safe and realistic scenarios, such as the immersive room at IASlab.

This type of technology is already present in many logistics companies, and bringing it into the classroom means bridging the gap between training and actual operations. The activity with the CEL is a clear example of how the collaboration between the university and the professional sector anticipates the needs of the market and responds to them through education.

Preparing talent for the future of logistics

The demand for supply chain professionals with digital and technological skills continues to grow. Therefore, initiatives like this not only enrich learning, but also put students in direct contact with the tools and real challenges of the sector.

With this collaboration, La Salle-URL and CEL reaffirm their commitment to innovative logistics training, oriented to the needs of the industry and able to anticipate its changes.
