4 tips to start the course and avoid dying in the attempt

If this is your first year as a student at La Salle-URL, we welcome you to your new stage. The university will offer a great chance to grow as an individual as well as a professional.

The beginning of a new course is always a time of excitement and nerves. From La Salle Campus Barcelona we want you to feel as welcome as possible; therefore, we bring you four tips that will help in this first week of welcome.

In this post, we share some tips to help you start your university career on the right track.

Establish and schedule your goals

One of the keys to getting out of college alive and thriving is to set clear goals and plan how to achieve them. It will help you stay motivated and keep you moving forward.

When setting your goals, make sure they are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time bound. For example, a specific goal would be to pass all subjects in the first semester and a measurable goal would be to get an average grade of 8 in all subjects.

Once you have set your goals, create a plan to achieve them. This may include planning how long you will study each week, what resources you will use, and how you will measure your progress.

Find your own productive study space

There are many ways in which the place where you study can have a big impact on your academic performance.

It is important to find a quiet and comfortable place to study. A space with distractions will keep you away from your goals and make it harder to focus on what you really need to do. Therefore, we recommend choosing a place free of distractions and equipped with all the supplies you need.

If you don't have a study space at home, consider the library, a café or a shared study space.

Some factors to consider when choosing a study space are:

  • Noise: you need a quiet place where you can concentrate.

  • Lighting: you need a well-lit place.

  • Comfort: you need a place where you feel comfortable.

  • Resources: you need a place with the resources you need to study, such as books, computers, etc.

Join in campus activities

College is a great opportunity to network, meet new people, learn and develop your skills to the fullest. Taking part in campus activities is a great way to do so.

At La Salle-URL we offer different extracurricular activities, from sports and entertainment clubs to service and student groups.

Some of the advantages of participating in campus activities are:

  • Meeting new people: campus activities are a great way to make friends.

  • Learn new skills: Campus activities can help you learn new skills, both academic and personal.

  • Develop your interests: campus activities can help you develop your interests and find your passion.

  • Improve your résumé: campus activities can help you improve your résumé and help you stand out from other candidates when looking for a job.

Be yourself, Be Real Be You

In a world where you can be anything you want, choose to be yourself.

College is the time to explore your identity and discover what truly inspires you. Don't be afraid to be yourself and express your individuality.

Don't worry about what others think of you and express your opinions. Being yourself will help you find your place in college and enjoy this unique experience. That's why La Salle-URL launched the Be Real, Be You campaign.

Be Real, Be You invites the new students of La Salle Campus Barcelona to be authentic, innovative and technological. You are the engine of the Campus and with this campaign we put the focus on you.

In offering you a transdisciplinary university experience through quality training. Because your future starts here, and we want to accompany you in this new stage.
