Recap
Now we have just finished the academic year, I assume I’m not the only one who unnervingly waits for the final grades to be published. While we wait, I thought it would be nice to show a brief recap of the last year.
In November I began writing here on the blog. Before that, the Social Club had already organized a welcome dinner in the beach club Shôko, with more that 140 students participating. The Club had also thrown a BBQ where more than 100 students and professors ate burgers together at and around the basketball court.
One of the first posts I published was actually a presentation of this year’s fabulous Social Club. You can read about the whole team here.
In December, right before the winter break, the Social Club also threw a Christmas dinner. The dinner took place in the Indian restaurant Bollywood, the same restaurant as the previous year’s Christmas dinner.
The different clubs at La Salle, such as the Photography Club and the Entrepreneurship Club also joined forces and organized a weekend trip to La Salle Natura, the rural house owned by La Salle, in December. The trip was packed with fun activities, good food and for many, the foundation of new friendships.
In January, right before the first semester final exams, I wrote a post about how to handle stress. The post can be found here.
In February, it was time to kick off the second semester, and this was done by the traditional welcome dinner followed by a party.
In March, I published a post with an excellent recommendation on how one can easily find restaurants with up to a 50% discount. If you didn’t read it yet, you should check it out here. I promise you’ll not regret it because this app is absolutely genius.
In March, La Salle also organized the annual botifarrada. A botifarra is a typical Catalan sausage and the 11th of March La Salle served botifarra sandwiches (bocadillos) and drinks on campus.
March was a hectic month with many things happening. The famous Mobile World Congress also took place this month. I met up with La Salle students Laura Konitzer and Georgina Mestre Angusto to hear about when they visited the congress. You can read more about their experience here.
In April, it was time for another BBQ at the La Salle. The Social Club organized the BBQ and a football tournament on campus.
The same month the winners of the Technova contest, a business idea contest organized by the technology incubator located at the La Salle campus, were announced. The winners were Paul Mougin, Christian Pummerer and Dong Xu, and you can read more about their business idea here.
During the year I also followed the NMUN team, a group of La Salle students who went to New York during spring break to participate in the National Model United Nations. The team was lead by head delegates Marie Coulibaly and Claudia Llorach Jover, and the group won two prices. You can read more about the participants here, and about the preparations here.
After the spring break a group of students and two professors went to Frankfurt, Brussels and Paris to visit different financial and economic institutions.
Shortly after, it was time for La Salle Festival week. This is an annual arrangement, where lots of fun activities and contests are organized all over the La Salle Campus. The festival week was kicked off with a walk through Colleserola Park combined with a lunch at the reservoir, but there were also several activities around the La Salle Campus. You can read more about day 1 here. On the second day, the RedBull truck was played at the campus, playing loud music and ensuring the complete festival feeling. You can read more about day 2 here. On the third day of the festival week, the main attractions were the International Food and Culture day and the Sallethylics. A full summary of day 3 can be found here. During the fourth day, the climbing activities were the focus. More details about day 4 can be found here. The last day, the festival was rounded off with a gala dinner.
In May a group of students went to the annual Sports Management Study Tour in London, where they got to visit a variety of important sports stadiums, arenas and sports organizations.
In May, another group of La Salle students went to Madrid to work with Euroleague Basketball in the management of surveying fans.
In the same month, the Social Club also threw a breakfast at La Salle, in order to raise funds to those suffering in the aftermath of the earthquakes in Nepal. The breakfast was a success, and the Club collected over 200 Euros.
Throughout the year I also published summaries from interviews I did with alumni who graduated from La Salle within the past few years. On the blog I presented the following alumni:
Kristian Dobrev, Claudio Di Gregorio, Alex Lorck, Lav Mehta,
Simon Holme Øien, Vedran Kusljugic, Rasmus Fri,
Jens Diderik Steen Holst, Sara Tendero, Martín Casals, Jörg Arens,
as well as Aleksandra Jaroszynska and Mercedes Ayer.
You can read the summaries by clicking on the names.
I also made a complete summary post about the alumni, showing what industries they work in, what positions they hold, and which companies they work for. The complete summary can be found here.
Even though the fourth year students, myself included, have yet to defend their theses and final projects, most of the students now have summer holiday. I hope you all will have some great summers months, before beginning the next academic year in September. And to all the ones graduating the 9th of July, I wish you the very best of luck!
Thanks for a great year everyone!
