Ongoing research to validate the usefulness of indicators in educational data analysis tools

Barcelona, January 29, 2021

This week Dr. Amo (member of the GRETEL research team) presented the new open source tool that they have developed.

For the next step of the research, Dr. Amo wants to get as much information as possible from teachers, validating the usefulness of the indicators shown on the dashboards and if they miss any other type of information.

This tool is designed to "analyze educational data and facilitate teachers' understanding of student interactions in virtual learning environments.", As he himself writes on the Eduliticas blog (https://eduliticas.com/2021/01/investigacion/investigacion-en-curso-docentes-me-ayudais/).

It is coded to improve privacy and security in the analysis, so it runs on the computer itself, regardless of the browser and the internet connection, since it only requires having the data on the execution computer.

The tool allows you to create dashboards from files exported from educational platforms (Moodle, Kahoot, Socrative ...). In a first step, now only analyze data exported from Moodle and generate a dashboard from the JSON export of the Records report.

Therefore, we invite all teachers to fill out the survey or echo on social networks. The survey is accessible at the following link: https://forms.gle/U7CtBucrJyBQjcy5A.
