Alumni: Lav Mehta

A new addition to the blog this year is the alumni network. I have, and will continue to, interview several professionals who graduated from La Salle. Here on the blog you can read summaries from the interviews, and gain inspiration to where the degree obtained at La Salle can take you.

24 year old Lav Mehta graduated from La Salle in 2011. Lav is originally from India, but he now lives and works in USA. He is employed by Molex, a subsidiary of Koch Industries. Until recently, Lav worked as a Regional Pricing Team Leader in the company. Now he is transitioned to be the Global Pricing Analytics Team Leader.

As Lav just transitioned, he finds it difficult to explain me how a normal working day unfolds. He therefor decided to tell me how his previous position was. He would spend the mornings reviewing customer price requests and cathing up with individual account managers, and during the afternoons he would be involved in working with other team members; the size of his team doubled in a matter of months, so he had to spend much time training and coaching the new team members.

Lav did not expect to work with what he do, but he really enjoys his job. When I asked him how the knowledge from La Salle has helped him in his professional carrer, he admits that no one ever asked him what the four P's of marketing are for. Even though he do not believe any topics has been particularly important, he explains that the entire La Salle experience has helped him a lot. Lav actually  got his job through an event organized by La Salle.

Lav believes networking is key to getting a job, and even though the chances of landing the dream job right after graduation is low, graduates should make sure the job at least makes you a step closer to where you want to be.

If ou want to know more about Lav, you should check him out on LinkedIn:
